This authentic Shipibo was made by the hands of women of the Comunidad Shipibo de Cantagallo in Lima Peru.
Shipibo art is the product of the interaction between man and nature, because the inputs used come from the essence of the trees and fruits, which they themselves are responsible for obtaining, through traditional processes.
Each design is unique and different, unlike the new industries, which try to copy the shipibo design and reproduce hundreds of them.
According to Olinda Silvano, one of the main artisan teachers, what is expressed in the tissues are usually visions. "We as Shipibos do not repeat figures, each one has an ecological or dream meaning. It is not like the machine, which pulls it all the same. All come from the heart and from the mind"
Through the Kené technique, they represent animals, rivers, plants and part of the Amazonian geography. A true work of art that takes them to do approximately three weeks and, unfortunately, sometimes is a job that goes unnoticed in the city where they now live, in the jungle of cement called Cantagallo.
This beautiful piece of art was made by our sister Silvia Ricopa of the community of Cantagallo
